LARNACA COMMUNITY CHURCH

NEXT SERVICE

WELCOME TO LARNACA COMMUNITY CHURCH

In 1987, some expatriates living in Cyprus, were granted permission to hold worship services in the Greek Evangelical Church (GEC) building and the Larnaka Community Church (LCC) was born. Over the next decade, the two churches worked closely together to serve the local community. LCC also belongs to the Cyprus Evangelical Alliance (PENEEK), where as leaders we connect with other church leaders from across the island.

LCC has always been community focused, including initiatives to support church services in alternative languages such as Mandarin and Farsi, and the numbers of people attending has grown steadily. LCC finally outgrew the GEC seating capacity and, in 2009, moved to larger premises near St Lazarus. The new building enabled us to offer an increasing range of ministries.

Just before the COVID pandemic the premises we had used for a decade was sold. We became nomadic using schools or hotels to meet. However, we now have a more permanent use of the old Larnaca airport terminal. Again, God has blessed us with growth as we continue to serve the Lord in our community together.

Meet the Pastor

Pastor David Bailey has led LCC since the beginning of 2014. This year he and his wife Paula celebrated 30 years of marriage. Both their daughters live and work in Cyprus. Pastor Dave attended & served in a UK church for over 30 years. His responsibilities over that time included, youth leader, deacon, elder, worship co-ordinator and lastly as full-time assistant Pastor. He worked in secular jobs until 2006. He then attended Regents Theological College for three years and achieved a BA in applied theology. Pastor Dave is a keen runner, and to date has competed in six marathons.

Meet the Elder

Paul is originally from London. His wife Liza also grew up in London in a Cypriot family. They have lived in Cyprus since the end of 1989 and three of their five children were born here. They have nine grandchildren and counting! Paul is a retired teacher. He is currently studying for an MA in Biblical Studies to better equip him in his work as an elder. Liza returned to work as the kids got older and has worked as a teaching assistant in several schools. The both enjoy reading and travelling.

Join the Team

When is a good time to get involved in church? If you are new amongst us, enjoy your first six months getting to know us. After that, joining a team is a great way to make friends, and participate in the mission of God.

We encourage spectators to become participants, and participants to become part of the family.

Here are three steps to make LCC your spiritual home:

• 1. Stay: Give us at least six months before you make a decision.

• 2. Serve: Still with us after six months? We must be doing something right! Get more involved and join one of our serving teams.

• 3. Sign up: Beyond that, why not consider becoming a member? Membership is a great way we identify our committed core, and better administer the church pastorally and practically.

Here is a form you can use to tell us what team you might like to try.
